Hans Scholten joined the University of Twente as assistant professor in hardware and software design in 1981. He has been and is still involved in many national and international projects as project leader, work package leader, and leading researcher. Projects that he is currently involved in include COMMIT Sensafety (on Sensor Networks for Public Safety), SWEETS (on Sensor Tweets), and Euregio project WHM (on Wireless Health Monitoring).

His current research interests are:
  • Opportunistic sensing and networking,
  • wireless sensor networks,
  • service discovery and zero-configuration,
  • ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence, and
  • context awareness.
